The Boy, the Mole, The Fox and The Horse
I originally learned of the book The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse while reading a public television magazine.
And I am so glad to have found it.
A little about the author–Mackesy is a British artist and illustrator.
Various bios, including the one on his website, state that Mackesy collaborated with Nelson Mandela on a lithograph project. It’s called The Unity Series. (www.charliemackesy.com)
Mackesy’s acclaim catapulted, though, with the publication of his 2019 book, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse. The book is now one of my favorites.
I gave a copy to a friend as I was confident she, too, would love it, as she enjoys all things profound–whether simple or complex.. She did love it. Her note to me:
“Truly, it was a ‘love story’ for those of us who love books, reading and the library! Thanks for sharing. LW
While the book is a quick read. 15-minutes or less, and with illustrations throughout, do not be fooled. The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse is a treasure for adults and children alike. I am sure I am not the only adult who appreciates a reminder of simple truths.
There are many truths and philosophies in this book–which was later made into a movie.
The screenplay of the book won in the Oscars short film category and is available on Apple TV.
But do read the book and share it with others–an endearing treat for you and the recipients.
